Tuesday, July 17th, 2007
So far, through the first half of 2007, Rod Stewart has embarked on the year’s most successful concert tour, narrowly edging out Justin Timberlake and the reformed Police, according to live music industry magazine, Pollstar. Sting is expected to easily take the year end crown, and unlike album sales, concert profits have improved, with a 2.9% increase over the same time period last year.
Celine Dion’s Las Vegas shows raked in $41.8 million via tickets averaging $137.36 each, putting her in fourth place. Another production with both Canadian and Vegas connections, Cirque Du Soleil’s Delirium ($30.0 million and $80.24), ranked eighth.
The other Canadians in the top 50 were Nickelback at #31 ($10.4 million and $45.91) and The Tragically Hip at #47 ($6.7 million and $36.01).
