Born in Connecticut, John Mayor was strumming away at his guitar from an early age. He spent years working on his song writing skills and perfecting his talent for beautiful melodies that weave rhythmic textures. Finally, he was ready to release his first album in 1999, "Inside Wants Out." This album consisted of solo acoustic renditions of his intense songs, as well as several tracks recorded with a full band.

Instantly earning the praise of the musical community, in 2000 after signing with Aware/Columbia Records, he started to work on his first major label release. The album "Room For Squares" debuted to a fervor of musical acclaim. His alternative rock style earned him comparisons to the Dave Matthews band, but his potential started whispered comparisons to the great Stevie Ray Vaughn.
